Despite the rising threat of computer viruses, nearly 15%
of small firms plan to increase their investment in e-commerce
over the next 12 months, according to new research. In the survey
of around 400 businesses, some 20% of SMEs said they already
have e-commerce tools installed on their company website.
The rest admitted their online presence is primarily a means
to provide information or encourage sales. The Netbenefit 'State
of the eNation' report also found that a further 12% of firms
plan to add e-commerce capabilities to their website during the
next year.
Responding to the findings, UK online for business' Duncan
Fitter said: "We are extremely pleased by the results of
this survey, which show that UK firms see ICT as an integral
part of their business."
