The growing threat facing the Internet from spam has led the
UK Government to join forces with the United States and Australia
to tackle the global menace. Enforcement authorities in the three
countries will work together to investigate the sources of spam;
take part in joint training to combat the threat; and develop
international solutions to trace and convict spammers. A Memorandum
of Understanding has been signed to bring about cross-border
enforcement.
Meanwhile, a June survey by bank HBOS revealed that 37% of
small and medium-sized businesses have suffered "significant"
financial losses as a result of computer viruses and spam.
