The performance of Britain's small firms has improved sharply,
according to the latest NatWest Survey of Small Businesses in
Britain. For the first time in 18 months the survey found that
over half of the respondents reported significant improvements
in their sales.
There has also been an improvement in the number of firms
reporting increases in employment (+7%) and investment (+15%)
over the past year. Small firms in personal services and the
hotel and restaurant sectors are leading the recovery, with 48%
and 44% respectively reporting an increase in sales over the
past year.
