The UK's transport infrastructure is currently more of a hindrance
than a help for British business, a major new survey claims.
Some 65% of businesses said that the creaking transport system
has a negative impact on their organisation.
The survey, carried out by the Institute of Directors (IoD),
canvassed opinion amongst businesses of all sizes throughout
the UK in an attempt to evaluate the effects of transport services
on the private sector.
Miles Templeman, Director General of the IoD, said: "Transport
matters not just to us as individuals, it impacts hugely on businesses.
And quite frankly, the current state of our rail and road networks
is having a seriously negative impact on business profitability
and, therefore, UK GDP growth."
