The Office for National Statistics' annual e-commerce report
for 2003 has revealed that 29% of businesses are now buying goods
and services online, up from 13% in 2002, with the use of the
Internet growing particularly fast among smaller businesses.
Meanwhile, US research has revealed that Internet users are
doing more searches nowadays for business and e-commerce than
for pornography, which topped the charts back in the late 1990s,
claiming 20% of all searching. Now sex-related searches account
for only 5% of the global total, but queries for e-business and
commerce have surged by 86% since 1997.
